Holistic Handling of Sexual Abuse Cases in Children

Abstract

Introduction: Cases of child sexual abuse still occur in many communities. Children who become victims rarely report for various reasons, such as shame and fear. Therefore, as a parent should be able to recognize the signs of children who experienced sexual abuse.
Case Illustration: The 15-years-old children came for a visum. The victim’s parents suspected that the victim had sexually abuse from the community around the house, but the victim did not want to confess.Finally the parents came with the police to the forensic department for a visum examination. After being examined by the forensic department with obstetriciansthen the victim was was consulpted to the psychiatric physician and pediatrician.
Discussion: In handling cases of children sexual abuse should be holistic and integrated. It required correcting and handling, both from the medical side, the individual side, legal aspects, and social support. This case provided a lot of experience and taught us to give more education to the community, especially parents who had children to pay more attention to the environment where their children was located and given counseling about prevention of child sexual abuse.
Conclusion: Sexual abuse in children could occur anywhere and anytime and could be done by anyone, therefore, children need to be equipped with the knowledge of sexuality.
